Caribbean beach Resort at Walt Disney World in Orlando has had some controversy over the past few years, and if I’m honest I do think it was blown out of proportion judging how much work Disney are currently doing at the number one tourist destination in the world.

However now the work at Caribbean Beach is complete, I want to talk about why I think this is the HOTTEST moderate resort at Walt Disney World.

I first stayed at the Caribbean Beach back in 2014, before any work had commenced on Centertown, and for those of you who remember, the reception was in a strange little building away from the main part of the resort, however the huge food court had plentiful quick service options and a table service restaurant too, which I will admit was a little lacklustre.

The resort itself was also extremely large, with 6 ‘islands’ of accommodation, and the furthest away from reception being home to the Pirate rooms. We stayed in Jamaica which was opposite the water from Centertown, which we didn’t mind it was a short walk, however we saw many bad reviews from guests complaining about the size of the resort, even though there are bus stops at every single island. That aside we had a fantastic time there, and loved the Caribbean theme with the hammocks on the beaches and being able to see fireworks on an evening.

The resort has had a huge overall over the past 2 years, and those of your who have been within this time frame will know about the boarded up Centertown as they refurbished it, and also the instillation of the skyliner pylons, plus the huge Riviera Resort being built next door.

We visited the resort during our 2017 holiday to see how the construction was going on and we did think Disney were doing a great job and keeping noise to a minimum however the temporary food court lived a lot to be desired and was the main thing we saw people complain about online (although not one of our customers complained or let if effect their stay). I think the main question people had to answer to themselves was ‘how often are we going to eat at the hotel’…..

…anyway that aside, construction finished in November 2018, and while we were away we decided to go have a look at the work, and we were pretty much blown away.

Centertown has been completely redesigned, and improved. To be honest we thought it was beautiful. They have moved the reception to Centertown too, which is a much more central location for the resort and a no brainer as the Riviera Resort is being built where the old reception was. It’s all bright and airy, and across from the reception is a lovely hall with seating in a tropical setting. On from there you have a nice big gift store, and the quick service restaurant which in my opinion has been drastically improved. The whole building feels bigger, brighter, much more airy and more Caribbean than it previously was, and in an extremely tasteful way!

Sebastian’s Bistro is the new table service restaurant, and instead of this being in the main building it has its own on the water’s edge, and this restaurant is incredibly overlooked. We had some food there and it was amazing, and we wished we had made another reservation to go there. It wasn’t tacky at all, it was simply a modern Caribbean style restaurant with some nautical hints and of course the odd representation of the chef Sebastian himself! We even heard him singing a few songs during dinner!

The main swimming pool sits next to Centertown and Sebastian’s and is as fantastic as ever with the pirates fort and also the pirate ship for children to play in. The newly revamped Banana cabana bar is also opposite this area and is a MASSIVE improvement, you can even order food from Sebastian’s bistro in here while you drink your Pina Colada!

We also noticed more drinks stations for those refillable mugs dotted around the resort which is fantastic for those of your with a dining plan!

One of the main differences was that all of the Barbados ‘island’ has gone and some of the rooms at the Martinique ‘island’ of course due to the Riviera resort.

The rooms at Caribbean Beach also, are some of the only rooms at Walt Disney World which accommodate families of 5, as they have a pull down bed in some of the rooms as well as 2 queen sized beds. Plus the rooms are nice and spacious and have that lovely Caribbean feel to them.

Caribbean Beach is also in a great location central within Walt Disney Worlds 47 square mile radius, being extremely close to Epcot and Hollywood Studios!

Making the resort smaller, and condensing the reception into Centertown has made a he difference to this beautiful resort, but wait there’s more!!!

Come fall 2019 when the Skyliner opens, Caribbean Beach will have a Skyliner Station, which is the main HUB for the new transportation option at Walt Disney World, giving you access to EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Art of Animation, POP century and the Riviera Resort! So not only can you use the busses you have this new option too!

So if you are planning a Walt Disney World holiday in the future, out of all the moderate resorts, I definitely think Caribbean beach is the HOTTEST resort.
